Founder and President

Nan Zhizhong , MD (China), Dipl. Ac. Instructor of TCM Theory and Eastern Massage

Dr. Nan comes from the Black Dragon River region of China. He is a third generation doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). He served a four-year acupuncture apprenticeship with his uncle Dr. Nan Jingzhen, who is President of Eastern College of TCM. Dr. Nan attended Heilongjiang University of TCM for five years followed by four years of teaching and practicing at the University.

In 1992, Dr. Nan came to the United States to represent Heilongjiang University of TCM at the Fourth International Acupuncture Conference, working with both TCM and Western medicine. From 1992 to 1997 Dr. Nan taught and practiced in Denver at the Colorado School of TCM. He is a current teacher at CSTCM. In July 1997 he opened Nan’s Acupuncture Clinic. His clinic addresses the needs of a general practice clientele with a broad range of health concerns.

Oriental Healing Arts is currently recruiting a high level TuiNa expert from China to relocate to the United States in order to provide the best possible faculty available anywhere.

Cao Yi, MD (China), Dipl. Ac. Instructor of Eastern Massage and Clinic

As a third generation doctor of TCM, Dr. Cao has been teaching and treating patients for 15 years. He has published articles in the Journal of Clinical Acupuncture and Moxibustion. Dr. Cao has been invited to speak at many international conferences. Dr. Cao maintains a full practice while also keeping a busy teaching schedule at Oriental Healing Arts Institute (OHAI) and Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CSTCM). 

Prior to joining our  faculty, Dr. Cao was on faculty at Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where he was Vice-Professor and Head of the Acupuncture & Moxibustion Department.

Wei (Leonard) Liang, B.S., Dipl. Ac. Instructor of Eastern Massage, TuiNa Theory and Application, Accessories

Dr. Liang received his Bachelor of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Heilongjiang University of TCM.  He was In-Hospital Physician in the Nerve and Tumor Departments at the Red Cross Hospital of Heilongjiang Province, Harbin, China. 

Dr. Liang's background brings great insight into clinical applications of TCM and TuiNa.  Dr. Liang practiced in Los Angeles prior to relocating to Denver.

John Stebbins, OMD  Instructor of Eastern Medicine, Differential Diagnosis, and Introduction to Holistic Health

Dr. Stebbons varied background lends to a thorough introduction so students can understand the vastness of Holistic Health and Eastern Medicine. John has over 16 years experience teaching and practicing.

Administrative Staff
Dan Grotewohl, CMT, CTT, NCTMB, Dipl. ABT   Director of Oriental Healing Arts Institute  

Dan's interest in massage therapy began after professional studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at the Colorado School of TCM.  Dan received specialized training in TuiNa at Oriental Healing Arts Institute, graduating with top Honors as a Certified TuiNa Therapist (C.T.T.).  Dan is currently receiving advanced training in TCM Tongue and Pulse Diagnosis, Pattern Discrimination, and Advanced Chinese Medical Herbology with Bob Flaws. 

Dan has been in the professional bodywork field for fifteen years.  He has over 1700 hours of massage and bodywork training - 1,100-hour professional course of massage study at the Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado, Denver - where he graduated with Honors in 1994.  Dan has received additional training in Anma, Lomilomi, STR and AIS, as well as having attained the level of Usui Reiki Master.  He is a Certified Member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP); is nationally certified through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB); and, is nationally board certified as a Diplomate of Asian Bodywork Therapy (Dipl. A.B.T.) through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).  Dan is a member of the American Herbalist Guild.

Dan is in private practice at the TCM Health Clinic.
